Strawberry Point Hotel to Receive Grant Posted 7 July 2008 The Franklin Hotel in Strawberry Point has received an Historic Resources Development Restoration Program (HRDP) grant from the State Historical Society of Iowa to restore/replace the windows in the building. Specifically, this grant will be used to remove the brick from the 6 dining room windows that are bricked over and replace them with historically accurate representations from Pella. Funding for the historical restoration is a welcome gift, not only to the Franklin Hotel, but to the people of Strawberry Point and Clayton County. Located at the intersection of Highways 3 and 13 in Strawberry Point, the Franklin Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Doug Schmidt is the current proprietor.
