Posted 8 July 2008
On Sunday, July 6, shortly before 4 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff's
Department received a report of a vehicle in the ditch and someone
having been assaulted east of Oelwein along Highway 3.
Officers investigating the report determined that Andrew James
Kleitsch, age 23 of Oelwein, was operating a vehicle when he attempted
to make a U-turn at Knight Road and Highway 3 and backed into the
ditch.
A passenger in the vehicle, Judd Jeremy Burke, age 20 of Oelwein, and
Kleitsch attempted to push the vehicle out of the ditch while another
passenger, Preston Jaymes Huinker, age 19, got behind the steering
wheel.
The men were unsuccessful in their attempts and were unable to get the
vehicle out of the ditch. Huinker and Kleitsch got into a argument over
the situation and Huinker struck Kleitsch in the jaw with his fist.
Huinker was arrested and charged with Assault and Driving while
revoked. Kleitsch was transported to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein by
Oelwein Ambulance then arrested and charged with OWI 1st Offense,
Driving while suspended and Failure to maintain control.
