West
Union Eyes Downtown Improvement Project
Posted 8 July 2008
Last night, Monday, July 7, members of the West Union City Council
listened to mostly positive citizen comments on a proposed loan
agreement to fund a downtown improvement project.
Although still in the planning stages, organizers of the project say
the cost will not exceed $4.5 million.
West Union was recently designated by a state pilot program as a 'green
community'. The state program could open additional revenue sources to
the city, but that part is still unclear.
Council members approved a loan resolution so the project could move
forward but did not approve a specific downtown improvement plan.
