Oelwein Schools Will Ask Voters to Continue Levy
Posted 24 July 2008
Members of the Oelwein Community School District Board of
Education earlier this week announced plans to ask area voters to
consider continuing the existing physical plant and equipment levy
already in place. The board approved to continue the levy, not to
exceed $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed property value and 5% income surtax
combination until 2021.
In other business, the Oelwein School Board approved a 25 center
increase in school lunch prices to offset rising costs.
The board approved a contract with Seedorf Masonry for repairs to the
middle school building. The project will include part of the roof and
exterior walls surrounding the pool area.
Oelwein Community Schools approved a shared use agreement for the
Regional Academy for Math and Science (RAMS Center) between Northeast
Iowa Community College, Oelwein Community Schools and the Greater
Oelwein Charitable Foundation.
Oelwein Superintendent Jim Patera reported the new RAMS Center building
is nearing completion and it will be opened for college course work
this fall.
